The top of the Apennines (Gran Sasso and skiing slopes) is an hour’s drive way. The city is surrounded by picturesque mountains and hills. The sea is less than an hour away. There are good neighbours. This is a tranquil Italian city just as it should be. There is almost no crime, so, for instance, people tend not to lock their cars.
