Rifugio is a farmhouse and restaurant located in the countryside of Salento, only a few kilometres away from the southern Italian city of Lecce. It was built on a plot of land of circa 8 hectares.
The whole house structure is characterised by its “carparo” stone walls, a typical feature of Salento, and has two floors spanning a combined total of approximately 730 metres squared.
The ground floor is a restaurant which accommodates 80 guest seats and has a fully-equipped professional kitchen, services and a beautiful porch with a gazebo. Attached to the restaurant is a large function room (approx. 110 metres squared) designated for recreational activities. Finally, one of the double ensuite bedrooms is located on the ground floor and has been specially adapted for access for customers with disabilities.
The first floor consists of four double ensuite bedrooms, tastefully decorated throughout and complete with essential amenities. Two bedrooms share a communal kitchen and living room whilst one other bedroom has a small kitchen corner. Wide windows provide an unobstructed panoramic view of the surrounding landscape which stretches for many miles beyond Rifugio's garden area.
Immediately in front of the house is a swimming pool and sunbathing area, further allowing for the enjoyment of the beautiful views.
The surrounding land is used to grow our own fruit and vegetables, taking advantage of the red rich Salento soil which is arranged on different levels, separated by the characteristic dry-stone walls. On site there are rock gardens populated by small animals which live safely on this land. Also on the plot are wonderful orchids, wild flowers and typical Salento plants, such as wild pear trees, wild and cultivated olive groves, fig trees and prickly pear trees.
Asking price: €700,000 (circa £620,000)
